three credit bureaus
Question
One of my previous addresses is missing from my credit report. What should I do?
I have moved two times in the last three years. Though the 2nd time I moved I only moved a block away, and my street address/zip code remained the same. So, the only change is my address is my Apt No. Now, I can only see my current address and the first address in my credit report. But not my 2nd address. I always update my address with my creditors promptly. So, there is no reason for them not to update my address with the credit bureaus. May I know why this is happening? Or, rather is this even a matter of concern? I am asking this because one of my prospective employers asked for my past address of 7 years, which my credit report doesn't reflect clearly!!

No, this is not a reason for concern. The only reason that addresses are even included is so that, if someone uses your identity to apply for credit using an address that is not yours, (1) the person to whom they apply can tell that the address on the application might not be yours, and (2) you can tell that someone applied using an address that was never yours. As long as (1) all addresses shown were used by you at some time, and (2) your current address is correct, it is not necessarily for all previous addresses to be on your credit report.

You should do nothing. It won't affect your score. I'm sure you can show your employer your previous addresses.

Actually, the more you move, the more you will scare your future employer. He might take it as a sign that you are unstable, or having trouble paying the rent. In all honesty, I would not tell my employer that "in between" address. Especially if it was very temporary. /

Absolutely nothing. That section with the addresses and employers has nothing to do with your credit. It is very common for addresses and employers to be missing. That info is normally provided from a credit application by the creditor. Some fill in everything and some don't. Your credit report isn't meant to be a history of your previous addresses.

I actually prefer to only list my current and previous on my report to minimize credit fraud. Nothing to be concerned about.
