Question

Advice on where to buy a house in Greater London?

I'm new to London and not familiar with the areas/neighbourhoods/villages. I'm looking to buy something outside the city centre and would like to pay for some indpendent property advice. Does anyone know of where I can get this? I'm not looking for a local real estate agent but a property expert with knowledge of the whole region.

Because London is so huge, you aren't going to find someone like this. Even the estate agents with branches all over the capital are only going to be able to supply you with local knowledge at each branch. Can I suggest you 'try before you buy' and rent for a while? Make a list of the things you need (eg park, tube station) and the things you don't want (aircraft noise, long journey to work) and look at a map to find some promising areas. Then contact a local estate agent and visit. It will take you about six months to see everything.
