Question
Help with creating ideas to handle a lot of customers?
My dad got a new coffee shop and every saturday and sunday there are soo many damn customers that it becomes a problem. 1-smoothies look the fucking same and you guys know how coffee shops look like. There is a little place where we set the drinks and the customer picks it up. How can we keep track of everysingle customer anyways? Drinks are coming from the kitchen and the front. 2-the coffee has different sizes and people are too busy to even look at what their cup is labled as. IT says decaf latte with whole milk. And they grab a house coffee. Then they come back and say wheres my drink and some people are still waiting for theirs. 3-people are on the phone and doing something and they come into the shop order their drink, then go sit down at a table and are so focused on their laptop or something that they dont come to pick up their drink. Just 1 more drink to cause problems. okay so thats basically the problems. me and my dad thought of a ticket system. problem...the raffel tickets at stores at 6 digit numbers...we dont have time to write down 6 digit numbers on cups. and there are no registers that print receipt paper with a ticket number on it. and we found a few but none of them keep track of the number and we have to type it in. How can we keep track especially with 2 cashiers. So if you know where to get those help me out another problem. we need sharpies to write on those cups. And some of them are clear like the ice coffees. So i got metallic sharpies. problem is the metallic ones have caps. I need the ones that click in and out like a pen. Closing and opening sharpies is too slow. leave it open it dries and smells. About the raffell ticket were thinking of just last 3 digits, but we have to say that every single time, or we can make a sign. but idk bout that one..cause then we need a raffel holder cause you need two hands to rip those tickets off. WE need something quick one handed one second. we thought of a line. problem is people go sit at tables and other things. so we cannot maintain a line...especially on saturday...you have no idea how crazy it is. a line of 20 that goes out the doors, we pull them inside and form a line bending around the corner. By the time those 20 are inside there are another 20 in a line going through the doors. we make 3000 dollars just off saturday and no less and around 3000 on sunday but a little less. me and my dad have thought of so many options to speed things up and to get rid of confusion. i mean some people dont know the sizes of the cups tall grande primo. and then we have to show them thats like a 10 second waste. man we have muffins and bagels and drinks flying all over the place and someone has to stop to show them the drink sizes. Were thinking hanging a example of the cup on velcro on a pole that is in the front. so what do you think. Dont think of some simple thing that we've probably thought up. You have no idea. If you have never been in that shop on saturday. Its like tidal wave of customers from 6 am to 4 pm non stop. like a locust swarm around our shop. good business but its fucking hell. so think of something that just might work. And tell me what material or machines you think we will need. And if you keep posting up idea the shop can create something off of your help thanks basically what im saying is we need to make sure the right customer gets their drink.

I think Starbucks uses wax pencils to write on their cups -- an art supply store would probably know what to use that would write on cups made of paper and plastic. Also: no pen caps to roll under the counter. You could also write their names on the cups, or maybe just their initials. Then if a cup is orphaned on the delivery bar someone can call out "JP! JP!" With initials, the customers obviously know their own, rather than remembering a new number every time they're there or having a pocket full of tickets at the end of the week.
