three credit bureaus
One of my previous addresses is missing from my credit report. What should I do?
Question
How do I successfully remove one past settled, derogatory, account with Bally Total Fitness?
This is severely hurting my credit score and I have disputed it with all three credit bureaus and written Bally. No response. I should have been allowed to cancel my account due to my medical reasons and they have ignored my letters/doctors notes. Are their professionals that can rectify this situation????

Was the account turned over for collections? Has the account been paid? If you paid then you should have negotiated a "pay for delete agreement" before paying. Wait for the credit bureaus to respond to your dispute, they have 30 days. If the account was in collections, the collection agency may not verify the account since they already have the money.

In the future, don't settle without the company agreeing to delete first it just re-ages the debt. I suggest you try contacting Bally's again, they might just ignore you since they already have the money.

Not really sure what you're talking about... a "one past settled, derogatory account"? Stop writing letters and pick up the phone! Insist to speak with a manager immediately!!! If the account is current/paid off ask them to change what they're reporting to the credit bureaus.

This is very common with Bally Total Fitness. Exactly the same case happened with one of my friend. For him it took a while to correct his score. If the credit score is too important for you, I would suggest to settle the amount with Bally. Pay the agreed amount and send a letter to all three credit bureaus with proof. Then they will take care of it.That's exactly hwat my friend did. He was planning to buy a house, and that helped. Within a few months his scroes improved... Otherwise it's difficult.

Health club and cell phone providers are notoriously brutal for not letting you out of contract...Unfortunately you'll have to settle to improve your credit score. You may be able to negotiate the complete removal of non credit card debts like defaulted cell, health club, utility bills etc. from your credit report with a Pay for Delete agreement. This is an agreement where you get a signed agreement from the debt collector (PRIOR to making any payment) where they offer to remove the negative items from your credit files after an agreed-to amount is paid. They will NOT want to do this....all they want is your money and their commission and they could not care less about your credit rating....Still, you have something they want (money) and that puts you in a position to negotiate on this issue. Example letter: I am willing to resolve this issue if your firm sends me a written agreement that you will remove all negative notations from my credit report after the agreed-to amount is paid to you. Upon receipt of this letter I will mail you a USPS money order for this amount. ---------------------------------- Again, they are not going to want to do this...if they simply refuse to remove it, then you want to negotiate that they will update your credit report to "Paid in Full.” . You DO NOT want them to put “settled” on your credit report, as that’s a negative factor....
